Kaunas LEZ welcomes FL TECHNICS, the first investor engaged in the MRO activities
Kaunas FEZ is conveniently located next to the Kaunas International Airport. The area of the Airpark is a unique space for investment among companies engaged in the aircraft maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) business due to its attractive neighbourhood. In addition, the automotive electronics giants such as Continental and Hella are also established in this FEZ area and have already began their expansion. The engine repair shop of FL Technics Engine Services will open its doors in the Airpark area of Kaunas FEZ.

MRO sector development in Kaunas FEZ
Along with the establishment of the leading European aviation companies in Vilnius and Kaunas, the Central European Aviation Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) Centre, which actively takes advantage of the benefits offered by the FEZ, began to develop rapidly in Lithuania.
Kaunas offers an excellent infrastructure for MRO cluster development – the runway of the Kaunas Airport is the longest in Lithuania (3,250 m) and has an area of 16 km2 suitable for aviation equipment. The fact that Kaunas is a great place for the development of the aviation business is determined not only by the highly developed infrastructure but also by the supply of highly qualified experts.
“It is a great pleasure for us to be able to open a new turbo ventilator engine repair shop. This is a great step forward in the field of strategic development for the infrastructure of FL Technics and Kaunas division of FL Technics. Our plans for the immediate future are to further develop the business potential of FL Technics Engine Services” said Žilvinas Lapinskas, CEO of FL Technics.
FL Technics, being a family member of Avia Solutions Group, one of the largest group of companies providing aviation services in Central and Eastern Europe, with 83 offices and over 7,000 aviation professionals worldwide, develops its business not only at the international level but also in Lithuania. Currently, the company is engaged only in aircraft base and line maintenance. Since November 2020 a new company FLT Engine Services will join the MRO service provider’s group. In 2021, the new company will be established in the new two-storey aircraft engine and raw materials storage and repair hangar. The new project implemented by Sniego Takas will enable the company to use the new premises with an area of 3,288 sq.m. where engine maintenance works will be performed. In 2021, when the new hanger will open its doors, FLT Engine Servicesplans to provide maintenance services to over 100 aircraft engines, the potential repair volume could reach over 200 aircraft engines per year.Back to news
